We are very excited to congratulate the latest Health Care Hero, Darko Berisavac, a registered nurses in 6 West Orthopedics unit at Lions Gate Hospital. Congratulations!!
After North Shore resident couple, Rene and Edie Carrier, made a donation to the Foundation specifically naming Darko as their Health Care Hero, we were pleased to recognize him for his outstanding level of care and service to our community. Darko was presented with a Health Care Hero pin and recognition letter.
We asked him a few questions about his career and here’s what he had to say:
How long have you worked at LGH? And have you worked in different departments?
I’ve worked at LGH for 5 years. I was a Tobacco Cessation Educator for 2 years and an RN for the last 3.
What is your favourite part about working on 6W?
Our team of nurses, unit clerks, care aids, SW, OT, PT and surgeons. 6 west staff are some of the hardest working, compassionate, and funny group of people I’ve ever worked with.
Do you have a favourite patient story? (no names are required for privacy reasons)
I don’t have any favorite stories to share as all our patients are unique in their own way. My favorite part of the job is being on the team that works together, getting patients after physical trauma back to their daily activities.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about working at LGH?
Its close to home and my daughter was born at LGH 😉
Honour a Health Care Hero
You can recognize your hero by making a donation in a staff member’s honour and say thank you for the important work and care that was provided. Your hero will receive a special Health Care Hero pin and letter of thanks for a job well done from Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
