We are very excited to congratulate the latest Health Care Hero, Anthony Tsui, a registered nurse in Emergency at Lions Gate Hospital. Congratulations Anthony!
After a North Shore resident made a donation to the Foundation specifically naming Anthony as their Health Care Hero, we were pleased to recognize him for his outstanding level of care and service to our community. Anthony was presented with a Health Care Hero pin and recognition letter.
We asked him a few questions about his career and here’s what he had to say:
Why did you choose to work in Emergency?
The acuity and complexity of patients, the excitement of the unknown, and meeting a variety of patients from all back grounds keeps things interesting.
How long have you worked at Lions Gate?
Since summer of 2013, started on the medical floor, then to cardiac, now in emergency.
What is your favourite part about what you do?
Meeting and providing care for patients from different backgrounds -always something new to learn, whether it be from patients or staff
Is there anything else you’d like to share about working at LGH?
The team dynamics and support I’ve experienced with the entire health care staff have been amazing.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your career history or how you got to where you are today? Inspirations etc?
I’ve volunteered with several organizations including Canadian Institute for the Blind, Yaletown Society, and North Shore Dialysis. Although they were all volunteer positions, it made realize the impact helping can have on people’s lives. So that’s when I decided that health care would be a great career to pursue.
Honour a Health Care Hero
You can recognize your hero by making a donation in a staff member’s honour and say thank you for the important work and care that was provided. Your hero will receive a special Health Care Hero pin and letter of thanks for a job well done from Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
