As Chief Operating Officer – Coastal, Wendy Hansson oversees the delivery of health care on the North Shore, Sea-to-Sky, Sunshine Coast, Powell River, Bella Bella and Bella Coola.
Wendy came to Vancouver Coastal Health in April 2010 from Providence Health Care (PHC) where she was the Vice President of Clinical Programs and Site Leader St. Paul’s Hospital, responsible for a broad range of tertiary/secondary services across multiple sites. She brings to the role over 20 years of senior management experience in clinical operations, health care system transformation, financial/capital and strategic planning and policy development at the provincial, regional and local levels across the care continuum.
Prior to joining PHC in 2002, Wendy was Regional Director Management Operations for Vancouver Coastal Health. In addition, she has several years of experience with Ernst & Young Health Care Practice consulting across all sectors, and has held senior positions with the Ontario Ministry of Health, including overseeing the Capital Planning program for the province.
As a strong advocate for leadership development and mentoring, Wendy is active provincially and nationally in health administration, being recently recognized for her years of Distinguished Service by the Canadian Council of Health Service Executives (CCHSE). She has held positions of Chair of the BC Lower Mainland Chapter for CCHSE; Co-chair for the national Chapter Advisory Council; Co-chair of the 2007 & 2008 Health Care Leader’s Association of BC (HCLABC) Leadership conference, and is currently a HCLABC Director.
Wendy received her B.Sc. (Kinesiology) and Master of Health Administration from the University of Ottawa. She also holds her Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and her Certified Health Executive (CHE) designations. |
